Isadore L. Zeff, 98, of St. Louis, died Friday, April 27, 2012. Mr. Zeff was born May 1, 1913, in New York City and raised in Kansas City, Kan. He was a decorated World War II U.S. Army veteran. After the war he took over from his father and operated Zeff’s Department Store, which stood from 1914 to 1975 on Southwest Boulevard in Rosedale, Kan. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Milly (nee Kalmes) Zeff, and his first wife, Bess (nee Forman) Zeff. Dear son of the late Sam and Mollie (nee Sushinsky) Zeff. Dear father of Elaine Kagan of Los Angeles; father and father-in-law of Keith and Karen (nee Miller) Zeff of St. Louis and Gary and Nancy (nee Solle) Zeff of Boulder, Colo.; dear grandfather and grandfather-in-law of Sarah and Carl Aschkenasi of Yad Binyamin, Israel, Benjamin and Nikki (nee Dawkins) Zeff of St. Louis, Dana and Eric Emmenegger of St. Louis, Eve Kagan and Daniel Hirshberg of Boston, and Molly Zeff of Boston; dear great-grandfather of Yaakov and Noa Aschkenasi, Akiva, Ayelet, Yeshaya and Yosef Zeff, and Eli and Isaac Emmenegger, all of St. Louis. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Alvin and Leah Jean (nee Schuman) Zeff of Plano, Texas, and Jack and the late Aileen (nee Agron) Forman of Overland Park, and the late Goldie and Leo Bursten, Ruby and Eula Zeff, Carl Zeff, David Zeff, Milton Forman and Sherman Forman. Dear uncle, cousin, and friend. Graveside service was held Monday, April 30, at Sheffield Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo. Memorial contributions to Kehilath Israel Synagogue or Jewish War Veterans.
