Rubin, Paul S. "Sandy"

Paul S. “Sandy” Rubin, 79, of Overland Park, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 29, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Kehilath Israel Synagogue, 10501 Conser, Overland Park, KS 66212.

Mr. Rubin was a sales representative for Fehr Hotel Supply, Rose Restaurant Supply and Greenwood’s before retiring from Sysco in the 1990s. After retiring, he went to work as a volunteer at Menorah Medical Center three days a week in various departments until the present.

He was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and B’nai B’rith. Mr. Rubin was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the American Legion.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was active in the reunion of naval personnel serving on the USS Weiss from World War II through Vietnam. During his naval service, he was a storekeeper on this ship.

Mr. Rubin was born in Kansas City, Mo., and was a lifelong area resident.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Bessie Rubin; a son, Jeffrey Scott Rubin, in 2001; and his sister, Sonja Brown.

Mr. Rubin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlene Rubin, of the home; son, Stephen Rubin, Baltimore; and his daughter, Michelle Rubin, Leawood.
