Mary Berman, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died at home Friday, Nov. 6. Born in Kansas City on March 6, 1922, to Rose and Ben Sonken, she attended Southwest High School and Kansas City Community College. She was a lifelong member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah, having been confirmed and married there. She was also a member of Temple Sisterhood and the National Council of Jewish Women. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Herb Berman, and by two brothers, Jerry and Ben Sonken. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lindy and Larry Glass of Leawood, Lanny and Bryant Moyer of Topeka, Kan., and Patti and Jeff Marquis of Cookeville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mark and Brandy Glass, Steve and Michelle Glass, Gabriel and Lynn Jacobs, Mary and Eric Worsham, Joseph Jacobs and fiancée Jenn Dickinson, Noah and Krisha Jacobs; and four great-grandchildren. Her family appreciates her wonderful friends for the fun and joy they contributed to her life. She gave so much love and was much loved in return. Graveside services were held Sunday, Nov. 8, at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice or a charity of one’s choice.
