Diane A. Capito, 78, of Berkeley, Calif., formerly of Kansas City, passed away Friday, June 26.

Graveside services were to have been held Wednesday, July 1, in Berkeley. The family suggests contributions to CSJ Care, c/o Sister Anne, 1919 E. 58th St., Kansas City, MO 64130; the Al Capito Memorial Fund at the Jewish Community Center; or a charity of one’s choice.

Diane wrote manuscripts for writers and wrote travel books on San Antonio and the hill country in Texas. She also wrote many articles as a freelance writer for newspapers and magazines.

She was born in Kansas City, Mo., and moved to California in 1956. She was active with the zoo in Berkeley.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Jeannette Capito; a brother, Alvin Capito; and her sister, Retha Sue Capito.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Stella Capito, Lenexa, and Byron and Jo Capito, Houston; and her sister-in-law, Marlene Capito, Prairie Village.
