Landy, Ida Ruskin

Ida J. Landy, 96, of Lenexa, passed away Friday, June 26, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa.

Graveside services were held Sunday, June 28, in the Yukon Chapel at Mount Carmel Cemetery, followed by burial. The family suggests contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Landy was a member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah and a former member of Congregation Beth Shalom.
She was born May 5, 1913, in Altus, Okla., the daughter of Sol and Mary Rosenblum.

Mrs. Landy attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for two years, where she met her future husband, Roy Ruskin.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 27 years, Roy Ruskin, in 1964. Ida then married her longtime friend, Ted “Babe” Landy. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rosalie Flieder, in 1972.

Mrs. Landy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Sharon Ruskin and Tommy and Julie Ruskin all of Overland Park; grandson and his wife, Brian and Dayna Ruskin; granddaughters. Jennifer, Angella and Jeannine Ruskin.

Ida was a strong and self-sufficient woman who loved her family, enjoyed playing bridge and loved to entertain at retirement homes by singing with a group called the “Classics.” Ida was an optimistic person and grateful for her life and her family. She will be greatly missed.
