Rose Bucksner, 85, of Overland Park passed away Friday, June 19, at the Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 21, in the chapel at Village Shalom, with burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to St. Joseph Medical Center, 1000 Carondolet Dr., Kansas City, MO 64114. Mrs. Bucksner was a lifelong area resident who was well known in the Kansas City theater community. She volunteered at the Resident Theater in the Jewish Community Center for many years before working in ticket sales at Tiffany’s Attic and Waldo Astoria dinner theaters and Theater League. Before that, she worked as a licensed practical nurse for several family doctors. She was past president of the Center Women’s Guild at the Jewish Community Center and volunteered for more than 20 years at St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Bucksner was preceded in death by brothers, Lester and Grover Metzger; sisters, Jeannette Usow and Virginia Oliver; and parents, Sylvan and Serene Metzger. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Abe J. “Buck” Bucksner, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, David P. and Heather Bucksner, Omaha, Neb., and Brian S. and Nanci Bucksner, Overland Park; grandchildren, Corey N. Bucksner and Ryan Andrew Bucksner, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Anna Serene Bucksner and Simon J. Bucksner, both of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Corrine Nicole Bucksner and Alex Bucksner, both of Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Bucksner was an outgoing woman with a great sense of humor.
