A new low

The local group Citizens for Justice in the Middle East, established in 2003, has dismayed us before by failing to live up to the “justice” part of its name and taking an entirely pro-Arab view of the Israeli-Arab conflict.

But the group has sunk to a new low by agreeing to co-sponsor the upcoming visit to the town of British MP George Galloway, the vicious Israel hater and anti-Semite from the outer reaches of the far left. (See related story) Galloway is touring America, trying to raise funds for the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip, which is under the brutal control of the terrorist group-cum-political entity Hamas that the Palestinians voted into power even before Hamas purged its Fatah rivals back in 2007.

Of course, one way to break the Israeli “siege” of Gaza would be for Hamas to simply free Gilad Shalilt, the Israeli soldier it kidnapped in a cross-border raid three years ago this week, and stop firing rockets into southern Israel.

CJME, Galloway and his Viva Palestina insist they are not breaking any laws by raising money for Gaza; that it will not go to Hamas. Riiiight … As if cash weren’t fungible, or as if there were an actual distinction between Hamas’ terrorist and political/social wings. We hope the U.S. government is looking into prosecuting Galloway and all his U.S. helpers right now.

Finally, don’t believe the hype: Galloway is not anti-war, nor anti-imperialist, nor pro-democracy. He favors jihad and an Islamic Caliphate and dictatorial regimes. He’s simply a cheerleader for the wrong side.
